Oil India Stock Update: Structural derating; PT revised down to Rs360; Retain Hold. Ad valorem CESS to relieve OIL now but gains restricted, in case of crude price recovery: In Union Budget 2016-17, the government has changed the structure of the cess on oil production from a fixed rate of Rs4,500/metric tonne to ad valorem (at 20% of crude oil price).

• Tech Mahindra arm’s new IRIS improves recharge experience in consumers

Tech Mahindra’s subsidiary Mahindra Comviva has launched IRIS, the newest addition to its Revenue Plus suite - a monetization platform for CSPs. Comviva explains that Incremental Revenues through Incremental Sales (IRIS) unifies retailer and subscriber recharge processes by providing a seamless, congruent and concurrent recharge experience to both the parties. IRIS gives the flexibility of treating each customer and retailer differently and rewards their unique combination at various levels of the upgrade.

• Asian Paints operations at paints plant in Rohtak restarts

Asian Paints operations at its paints plant in Rohtak restarts; operation was closed for just 10 days – don’t expect any material impact on sales. Asian Paints operations at its paint Plant situated at Rohtak, Haryana, have restarted. The unit has manufacturing capacity of 2 lakh kilo litre per annum. Since the operation were closed from February 22nd 2016, the company loss the production for just 10 days. We don’t expect it to have any material impact on the sales and earnings of the company.

• RComm: Disagreement with TPG group over valuation of tower assets

Reliance Communications: Disagreement with TPG group over valuation of tower assets, valued tower assets at Rs15000 crore vs earlier valuation of 21500 crore, negative read-thru. As per media news, TPG and Tillman Global Holdings LLC have signalled that they view the assets as worth about Rs15,000 crore, including debt, after conducting due diligence on Reliance Communications Ltd’s tower assets, down from the R.21,500 crore proposed earlier in the negotiations. Reliance Communications said that the bidders have not reduced the enterprise value for the tower business by that amount

• Cipla: Delays and lack of clarity are growing concerns

Cipla: Delays and lack of clarity on launch timeline of inhalers in US market are growing concerns. Event: Mylan recently announced that its abbreviated new drug applications (ANDAs) for fluticasone propionate 100, 250, 500mcg and salmeterol 50mcg inhalation powder have been accepted for filing by the US Food and Drug Administration (USFDA). The USFDA has provided Mylan a goal date of March 28, 2017 (meaning if the product is approved under a standard review period, generic Advair could be launched in 2017). Mylan has now become the third generic player to file for generic Advair after Sandoz and Hikma.

INDIAN EQUITY MARKET WRAP UP-25 JANUARY 2016

INDIAN BENCHMARKS: SENSEX ENDS UP 50 POINTS, NIFTY 50 AT 7436

The domestic equity market managed to eke out gains on Monday despite crude oil prices slumping about 3 per cent. The benchmark indices traded with solid gains throughout the session buoyed by a surge in other Asian markets before they were pegged back by weak cues from Europe.

The S&P BSE Sensex ended the day with gains of 50 points, or 0.21 per cent, at 24,485.95 while the 50-share NSE Nifty50 closed at 7,436, up 14 points, or 0.18 per cent. Tata Steel and Sun Pharma were the top gainers on the BSE benchmark.
The gains on the benchmark index were supported by heavy buying on the counters of HDFC Bank, Tata Steel, ICICI Bank and HUL. However, losses in L&T, Tata Motors and Hero MotoCorp capped the gains.

S&P BSE Metal index drops over 2%
S&P BSE Metal index declined on amid fears of slower growth in China, the world's second-largest economy
Fears of slower growth in China weighed on metal and mining stocks. Economic data this week showed that China's services sector grew at the weakest pace in 17 months in December. Another data showed that activity had slowed in the country's key factory sector. Another concern is of China's weakening currency.

Indigo announces launch of 24 new flights
Indigo announces launch of 24 new flights – Positive for Inter Globe Aviation
As per media reports, IndiGo announced the launch of 24 new flights on its domestic network which include first daily non-stop flight between Delhi and Thiruvananthapuram.

L&T hits 52-week low
Larsen & Toubro (L&T) slipped over 3% touching to Rs1200, on concerns that the slowdown in the Middle East due to the crash in crude oil prices could affect the company's revenues.

Lupin launches generic Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo tablets
Lupin has announced that its US subsidiary Lupin Pharmaceutical Inc. has launched Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo Tablets in US. It is indicated for use by women to prevent pregnancy.

Reliance challenges ONGC’s allegations
As per media sources, Reliance Industries has challenged the jurisdiction of a panel examining ONGC’s allegations that RIL pumped out gas from ONGC's field, and has argued that the dispute should be resolved by arbitration.

Market Commentary & Stock To Watch-29 July 2015

Index heavyweight and housing finance major HDFC led losses for key benchmark indices. Shares of the housing finance major edged lower after the company reported a muted growth in bottom line in Q1 June 2015. The barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, was provisionally off 102.76 points or 0.37% to 27,458.62. The market breadth indicating the overall health of the market turned negative from positive in late trade. The market sentiment was edgy after the latest data showed that foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) pressed sales of Indian stocks yesterday, 27 July 2015.

Sell TATAMOTORS as remain below 390 we may see 350/340 level in coming days, above 390 major resistances will be 405.

• Center to invest Rs10000 crore in power sector
As per media reports, the centre will invest Rs10,000 crore in the power sector of the eight North Eastern states, including Sikkim. The Centre has already approved a scheme for strengthening the transmission and distribution system in Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim.There was also plan to restart the Teesta Hydro Electric Project in Sikkim with an investment of Rs13,000 crore.

• IDFC to start banking operations from 1st October 2015
IDFC to start banking operations from 1st October  2015. Each shareholder in IDFC to get 1 share of IDFC Bank- positive.

• Glenmark Generics gets ANDA approval
Glenmark Pharmaceuticals announced that Glenmark Generics Inc., USA (Glenmark) has been granted final approval by the United States Food & Drug Administration ( US FDA) for the oral contraceptive Levonorgestrel and Ethinyl Estradiol Tablets USP, 0.09 mg/0.02 mg, the therapeutic equivalent of Lybrel® of Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (which is no longer being marketed in the United States).

• Max India gets CCI approval for demerger
Competition Commission has approved Max India's proposed corporate restructuring plan to vertically split the company through a demerger into three separate listed firms, including one for life insurance.          
                                                                                                  • IndusInd Bank to buy RBS's India jewellery financing business
IndusInd Bank said it would buy Royal Bank of Scotland's diamond and jewellery financing business in India and the related deposit portfolio. RBS's India diamond and jewellery financing loan book is about Rs45 billion ($721.7 million) in size, IndusInd said. It did not give a value for the deal.

• Aurobindo Pharma gets USFDA approval for anesthesia drug
Aurobindo Pharma has received final approval from the US Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) to manufacture and market Atracurium Besylate injection in single and multi-dose vials.
The market size of the drug is not immediately known, injectible being a niche segment, the company may gain significantly from this product.

• Coal India likely to be permitted to sell coal through e-auction
As per media reports, coal India is likely to be permitted to sell an increased amount of its coal through e-auction, which is having better margin.
The report suggests that Coal India will be allowed to sell up to 10% of coal through e-auction, against 7% in last year. Positive read through.

• NFL restarts production in Panipat Unit
National Fertilizers Ltd (NFL) announced that it has resumed production at its Panipat Plant w.e.f. April 06, 2015. The plant was under annual turnaround w.e.f. March 04, 2015.

Sensex, Nifty open lower; Cipla falls 2%, IDFC gains 2%

The Sensex declined 58.69 points to 28826.52 and the Nifty slipped 18.25 points to 8760.05. About 583 shares have advanced, 398 shares declined, and 97 shares are unchanged on the BSE.

Cipla lost more than 2 percent. Hindalco Industries, Sun Pharma, Tata Steel, HDFC, PNB, Asian Paints and Zee Entertainment slliped 0.5-1.5 percent. However, IDFC rallied 2.2 percent. HCL Tech, Idea Cellular, ONGC, Wipro, Reliance Industries, Sesa Sterlite and Infosys gained 0.5-1 percent.

The Indian rupee has opened marginally lower at 62.30 per dollar today against previous day's closing value of 62.24 a dollar.

Sensex spikes 161 pts on Moody's rating outlook upgrade

Nifty Futures Tips

The market extended its rally after Moody's upgraded India's outlook to positive from stable. The Sensex climbed 161.63 points to 28869.38 and the Nifty jumped 41.80 points to 8756.20.

FMCG, technology, auto, oil and select banks stocks gained while healthcare stocks fell. About 488 shares have advanced, 58 shares declined, and 79 shares are unchanged on the BSE.

Moody's kept rating unchanged at Baa3. The rating agency believes that there is an increasing probability that actions by policy makers will enhance the country's economic strength. However, it cautioned that unless the country’s banking system woes were resolved, its credit profile would remain constrained. 

Government's divestment drive for the new fiscal has seen an electrifying start with REC offer-for-sale oversubscribed more than 5 times. Centre mopped up over Rs 1,500 crore from the 5 percent stake sale.

The Indian rupee has opened marginally higher at 62.16 per dollar today against 62.24 Wednesday.
