• Sun TV Board to consider proposal to buy-back shares
Sun TV Network: Company has informed BSE that a meeting of the Board of Directors of the Company will be held on November 05, 2015, inter alia, to consider and if thought fit to approve a proposal to Buy-back the fully paid-up Equity Shares of the Company. Positive read-thru.
• HCC Q2 net profit at Rs38.44 crore
Hindustan Construction Company Ltd announced the following unaudited Standalone results for the quarter ended September 30, 2015. Net profit at Rs38.44 crore vs Rs6.76 crore (YoY)
Total Income at Rs979.79 crore vs Rs962.71 crore (YoY).
• Ministry asks oil producers to switch to ad-valorem
The oil ministry has agreed to the demand of oil producers to switch from a fixed cess on oil production to ad-valorem. It is yet to be approved by the finance ministry. If approved it will help lower the duty oil producers. – Positive for ONGC & Cairn India.
• HCL Tech acquires CRM Services Provider Power Objects
HCL Technologies announced today that it has acquired Minneapolis-based Power Objects - a leading North American provider of Microsoft Dynamics CRM. This will bolster HCL’s global applications business, which offers transformational programs and complex application management for a myriad of clients’ technology landscapes.
• Government mulls over raising foreign investment cap for PSU Banks
The Government is considering a proposal to increase the maximum amount that foreign investors can own in public sector banks (PSB) to 49% from the current 20%. A higher cap would help PSBs in raising equity to comply with Basel III regulatory standards. An increased in FII limits will be positive for PSU Banks for long term though in near term higher government holding and subdued performance has weakened investor sentiments towards PSU banks.
• Hero MotoCorp launches new scooter Duet in southern markets
Hero MotoCorp has launched its first metal bodied scooter Duet in the southern markets. The Duet has been priced at Rs48,000 for the LX version and Rs49,900 for the VX version (ex-showroom Bangalore).
The Duet has been built on a new chasis and engine platform. The vehicle has features such as external fuel filling, telescopic front suspension and charging point. The Duet will compete against the Honda Activa and the TVS Jupiter.
• Novartis drops on USFDA warning letter for two plants
Sandoz, the generic drug arm of Swiss drug major Novartis, has received a warning letter from the US health regulator for violations of current good manufacturing practice (cGMP) norms at its two plants; namely Kalwe and Turbhe. At Turbhe, Sandoz mainly produces active pharmaceutical ingredients. In Kalwe oral solid dosages or tablets are produced. Negative news for the company.

• Bafna Pharmaceuticals gets renewal certificate from MHRA, London
Bafna Pharmaceuticals announced that the Company got the renewal certificate from MHRA, London, following the successful completion of MHRA audit process.
• Bharti Airtel surges on raising 2G, 3G data prices
Shares of Bharti Airtel rose over 2%, touching to Rs 418.1, on reports that the telecom major has hiked data charges of 2G and 3G services sold on-line by 13-18% for its pre-paid customers.
The 3G charges for 1GB have been hiked to Rs299 against Rs255 earlier valid for a period of 28 days. Further, 2G charges for 1GB has been raised to Rs199 compared with Rs176 valid for a period of 28 days.
• L&T Finance gains on reports of stake sale plan
Shares of L&T Finance Holdings rose over 2%, touching to Rs61.7, on reports stating that the financial services unit of engineering major L&T is in talks to sell a minority stake to Bain Capital, one of the world's leading private, alternative asset management firms. On signing the deal, Bain Capital would have to pay approximately $350 million. The company desires to expand beyond business outsourcing and manufacturing and foray into financial services in India.
• SPARC licenses Xelpros to Sun Pharma for US market
Sun Pharma Advanced Research Company ( SPARC) has licensed out Xelpros, a preservative-free eye drop, to a subsidiary of Sun Pharma for the US market. In addition to up-front payment of USD 3 million, SPARCBSE -0.04 % will receive certain other milestone payments, both totaling to USD 16 million from Sun Pharma.
• DLF to sell DT Cinemas business to PVR; stk up
Shares of DLF rose over 4%, to Rs115.4, after company's subsidiary, DLF Utilities, has entered into definitive agreements to sell DT Cinemas to PVR, on a slump sale basis. DLF announced that its subsidiary, DLF Utilities has entered into definitive agreements to sell its cinema exhibition business operated under the brand name of 'DT Cinemas', to PVR, on a slump sale basis for an aggregate consideration of Rs 500 crore approximately.
• NMDC awarded with India Pride Award
NMDC was awarded the India Pride Award 2015 in the 'Metals and Minerals and Trade (including Mining) category by Dainik Bhaskar.
• United Bank of India reduces base rates; stk up
United Bank of India rose nearly 3%, touching to Rs22.95, after the bank said it has reduced its base rate from 10% to 9.9% with effect from June 19, 2015.
• Pharma: Certain nutritional supplements rejected by FSSAI
Pharma: Certain nutritional supplements rejected by FSSAI (negative for Sun Pharma and Biocon) .Food Safety and Standards Authority of India ( FSSAI) rejects key brands like Re vital (Ranbaxy), Xtralgo (Sun Pharma) and Bromalain (Bioocon) on the ground of containing high levels of sugar, caramel, salt or heavy metals, caffeine and iron fillings.
A broad based decline was witnessed on the domestic bourses on the first trading session of the week today, 8 June 2015, as an upbeat US jobs report raised expectations of early rate increase by the Federal Reserve. Higher US interest rates will reduce the attraction of riskier emerging-markets assets. The barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, and the 50-unit CNX Nifty, both, hit 4-1/2-week low at the fag end of the trading session as these two key benchmark indices extended intraday losses. Meanwhile, global credit rating agency Moody's Investors Service reportedly said today, 8 June 2015, that below-normal rains would be credit negative for India's ratings as it would lower farm output and stoke food prices. Key benchmark indices languished in negative zone almost throughout the trading session today, 8 June 2015.
