Coal India, ONGC, ICICI Bank, HDFC and GAIL are major losers while Bharti Airtel, BHEL, Cipla, Sesa Sterlite and Sun Pharma are among the top gainers in the Sensex.
The Indian rupee opened flat at 61.90 per dollar against previous day's closing value of 61.94 a dollar.
